New BWCA Merch Is Here!

Join the fight to protect The Boundary Waters

We are excited to announce the release of our new BWCA long sleeve T-shirts. These shirts are available for purchase on our Superior Shop Website. 50% of t-shirt profits are directly donated to Save the Boundary Waters!

For this project, we had the opportunity to partner with Dominica Manno for the design of these new shirts and wanted to give her a quick shout-out along with some personal words from Dominica about her work and experience on this project!

I’m Dominica Manno, 28 year old illustrator, graphic designer, and adventure enthusiast. I currently reside in Northeast, Minneapolis. When I’m not drawing you can catch me snowboarding, rock climbing, paddle boarding, drinking a local beer, or petting someone’s dog at the park.

I was really excited when Alayna reached out to me and asked me if I’d be interested in working on this BWCA design with her. In a lot of ways, this was a passion project for me. Any project that allows me to create art
that has meaning, especially regarding nature is a special experience. It’s exciting to be a part of something that will have a positive impact on Minnesota. I’m really proud of what we created together and I hope it
helps keep Boundary Waters protected. I can’t wait to visit BWCA this summer and take pride in such a unique place that my art is helping to preserve.

What’s threatening The Boundary Waters?

Sulfide-ore copper mining continues to threaten The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Northeastern Minnesota. Consisting of 1.1 million acres of beautiful water and unspoiled woodlands, The Boundary Waters attracts over 155,000 visitors each year. Sulfide-ore copper mining, a toxic mining process which has never been allowed in Minnesota, poses a huge threat to The Boundary Water Wilderness.

This toxic mining process will cause the forests to suffer, destroy critical habitats and ecosystems, and increase mercury levels in fish and local residents. Likewise, the mining industry is no stranger to infrastructure failures resulting in catastrophic environmental destruction.

We can not put this incredible place at risk.

Our team at 8bitstudio is honored to advocate for this amazing place. Our team continues to support the conservation of this irreplaceable wilderness. We are an extremely proud partner of Save The Boundary Waters Campaign. Above all, this campaign strives to educate, advocate, and protect The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

We encourage you to learn more about the BWCA, the threats this wilderness is facing, and what you can do to support its conservation by checking out the Save The Boundary Waters website.
