SEO Trends in 2025

Search Engine Optimization has been around a while, but has evolved significantly over the years. Gone are the days of keyword stuffing and writing novels of content for one webpage. As Google evolves and becomes more intelligent, SEO has also had to adapt to suit the changing algorithms. Tricks that used to work five years ago are now considered bad practice, and may even harm your web rankings. So what is Google valuing now for SEO strategy? Let’s break it down.

Content, not Keywords

SEO has actually gotten quite simple in one regard: quality content is key. Google wants to provide users with better search results by filtering out content that doesn’t provide information or value. The algorithm is smart enough now to recognize the difference between useful, informative content and keyword stuffing “fluff” which doesn’t bring any value to the user (looking at you recipe blogs). Keeping your web content relevant, honest and to the point is the Golden Rule of SEO.

Fresh Content is Key

Another factor Google now looks at with websites is how frequently they are updated or changed. This doesn’t mean you have to redesign your entire website every month; it just means you need to keep your website relevant by updating your content. Uploading new product images, writing informative blog posts, or even just deleting or archiving outdated content lets Google know your business is active and your website is being maintained.

Mobile Optimization First

In 2024, over 57% of all web traffic is mobile. This is a huge increase from 2014 when mobile traffic only accounted for 27%. It’s likely this percentage will continue to climb, so mobile optimization is essential for search ranking. What does this mean exactly? Well it’s technical, but basically your website needs to look great on a phone, load quickly and easily provide your users with the content they’re looking for. When we design websites, we always consider mobile first and we optimize your site for both desktop and mobile experience.
